The Cathay Building

Cathay Building Facade 2
The Cathay Building, Singapore: A historical cinema building and this is the iconic facade, purposely preserved even though the original building has been rebuilt to become a mall-cum-multiplex. My elders (the last of them) recall that it was one of those few buildings made of solid concrete and considered safe enough for civilian evacuation during the air-bombings of world war two. The Cathay organization is still a healthy business today and owns/operates a few malls/buildings.
