Orchard Library, Singapore: The newly opened library is right smack in the middle of the country’s prime shopping district. Awesome for attracting people who want to be hip and intelligent. 😉 It is actually located within a shopping mall. Classy, new, modern organic design. Here we are at the entrance leading to a “reading lobby”. Magazines are placed in the white cupboards at the right. Just pull out a cupboard with the associated magazine title to access the available issues.

Orchard Library, Singapore: How to make libraries less boring? Organic wavy bookshelves instead of nerdy rectangular blocks. Great idea!

Novena Underground Subway Station

Novena Square Underground Subway StationNikon D610, 24mm, f/5.6, 1/40, ISO 1800

Novena Underground Subway Station: Two decades ago when the station was first constructed, urban myths abounded about how ghosts and spirits haunted this place as this used to be a graveyard. People exchanged tales about how the train somehow went pass the same station twice in a row and “strange people” boarding the train. People were so earnestly convinced of these tales that it is amusing to reflect on it today. People of the past were as convinced of those stories as people of the present are convinced of modern day variants such as “a women who went to Tokyo had her doctor advise her to abort her foetus because of radiation poisoning”. Anyway today no body cares about the ghosts of Novena, but I’m sure fools will still hold on to the “Tokyo radiation poison” tale for another decade.
